Same problem here... Dell Laptop, sigmatel drivers, can't figure out how to monitor through line-in 'live' as the music plays. The funny thing is it will record and I can see the meter moving... I guess the whole thing is tailored not for music or advanced sound monitoring, but for using mic during internet telephony or for speech recognition.
